Mercury 8hp won't start

The pull start wont come out at all and when I tried to turn the prop there is a clicking sound. I have started taking it a part but i'm not real sure what I should be looking for.

This happened to me once a few years ago and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I ended up giving it away to my friend and I think he got it working somehow. I'll see if I can find out how he did it and let you know.

Hi theres a safty lock for the pull start wont let you pull it over when its in gear.It may have broke It might be locked when its in nuetral. The clicking sound is normal that means its in gear inturn the pull start will be locked. DADDAVE

i would take the pull start assembly apart and see if anything is obviously broke. If you need help give us a call and we will see if we can help further.
