| I have a 72' 65hp Johnson that heats up even on the hose. History be hind motor is this. My son bought it 3 years ago and it was running great. 2 years ago the electric shift screwed up on it while shrimping one night. Motor sat until this past summer. Got shift problem fixed and tried to use it. Noticed while running on hose it was heating up so I bought a new thermostat for it. That didn't help so I took lower unit back off and checked impeller. It barely has wear marks on ends of fingers and is still flexible. Motor has not spit water out the holes in the back mut has been doing great. Any suggestions would be helpful as long as it's not costly. |

Hi Bill, my first thought is to change the impeller anyway. There is the possibility it is spinning on the shaft. If it still has a proublem pull the thermostat and pressure control valve and see it that helps. |
